Accessibility Statement

Everybody should be able to use this site. Here is what that means and how to reach me if it falls short.

My commitment

I want owntheboxmarketing.com to be usable by everyone, including people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, or a phone held at arm's length. That is the standard I hold this site to, and it is the standard I build toward on every client website too.

What that means in practice

  • Keyboard access. Every link, button, and form field on this site can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, in a sensible order, with a visible focus state.
  • Readable contrast. Text is checked for color contrast against its background so it stays legible, including text placed over photos.
  • Real headings. Pages use one H1 followed by properly nested H2 and H3 headings, so a screen reader user can navigate the structure without guessing.
  • Image descriptions. Meaningful images carry alt text that describes what is in the picture. Purely decorative images are marked so they are skipped rather than announced.
  • Responsive layout. Pages are built to work at a range of screen sizes and zoom levels without losing content or function.

Standard I am working toward

I use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as my working standard. This is an ongoing effort rather than a finished state: as pages are added or redesigned, I review them against these guidelines and fix what I find.
